Lilibet’s, a high-end restaurant located at the historic birthplace of Queen Elizabeth II in London, required a discreet yet high-fidelity audio system to complement its refined interior and dining experience. Delivered by integrator Tateside, the installation provides even, immersive sound coverage across the main dining space using a distributed system built around K-array’s Vyper series loudspeakers and Kommander amplifiers. Designed to remain visually unobtrusive while delivering full-range performance, the system enhances the venue atmosphere while retaining sufficient headroom for live music. The result is a carefully balanced audio environment that integrates seamlessly into one of London’s most design-sensitive hospitality spaces.

Tateside was engaged to design and implement a distributed background audio system capable of complementing the refined aesthetic and operational requirements of Lilibet’s, a premium dining venue located on London’s Bruton Street.

Working alongside the project consultant and distributor 2BHeard, the integrator developed a system focused on delivering high-quality, even sound coverage while remaining visually discreet within the venue’s ornate interior.

The installation is based on K-array’s Vyper-KV25 loudspeakers, selected for their ultra-slim form factor and ability to deliver controlled, high-fidelity audio coverage using K-array’s Pure Array Technology (PAT). This approach enables sound to be directed into the centre of the room, avoiding hotspots and ensuring consistent audio levels across all dining areas.

A total of 14 Vyper loudspeakers are distributed along the perimeter of the dining space, paired with 12 Rumble subwoofers concealed within joinery and beneath seating areas. This configuration creates a coherent full-range audio experience while maintaining a clean and uncluttered visual environment.

The system is powered by K-array Kommander amplifier platforms, which provide efficient system control and integration with the venue’s wider audio infrastructure. Using K-array’s K-Framework software, the system was pre-designed and optimised off-site, allowing Tateside to minimise installation time and ensure accurate coverage once deployed.

All loudspeakers were finished in custom colours to match the interior design scheme, ensuring that the technology blends seamlessly into the space.

In addition to background audio, the system was designed with sufficient headroom to support live musicians, supported by integrated microphone infrastructure and centralised control via a Q-SYS processing environment.

The result is a tightly integrated audio system that delivers consistent performance, intuitive operation and minimal visual impact within a high-end hospitality setting.

One of the primary challenges was achieving high-quality, even sound coverage within a visually complex and design-sensitive restaurant environment.

Lilibet’s interior features decorative finishes, patterned surfaces and varied seating arrangements, all of which can create uneven acoustic behaviour if not carefully managed. The system therefore required precise speaker placement and controlled dispersion to avoid hotspots and maintain consistent audio levels across all tables.

Another key challenge was maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the space. All audio equipment needed to remain discreet and visually unobtrusive, requiring compact loudspeaker solutions, custom finishes and careful integration into architectural elements.

The system also needed to balance subtle background audio with the capability to support live performances, requiring sufficient headroom without compromising clarity during normal operation.

Finally, installation efficiency was critical within a high-end hospitality environment, necessitating detailed pre-planning and off-site system modelling to minimise time on-site and disruption to the venue.

Lilibet’s demonstrates how carefully considered audio design can elevate the hospitality experience without drawing attention to the technology itself.

Rather than prioritising volume or spectacle, the project focuses on delivering refined, high-fidelity sound that enhances the atmosphere of a premium dining environment while remaining completely integrated into the venue’s aesthetic.

From a technical perspective, the installation highlights the effective use of K-array’s compact Vyper loudspeaker technology and Kommander amplification, enabling consistent coverage, minimal visual impact and flexible system performance within a challenging interior space.

The project also stands out for its balance of subtlety and capability, delivering an unobtrusive background audio experience while retaining the dynamic range required for live music.

By combining acoustic precision, discreet system design and operational flexibility, Lilibet’s sets a benchmark for audio integration in high-end restaurant environments.
