The installation of a high-performance sound system at Casablanca’s iconic Stade Mohammed V was a race against time, executed within a rigorous two-month window from initial conception to the inaugural match. This feat was complicated by the stadium’s prestigious status as a National Heritage.

Because the structure is a protected historical monument, every technical decision had to balance acoustic power with architectural preservation, ensuring that the integrity of the original concrete slab remained uncompromised.

The project’s success was anchored in a seamless collaboration with the Project Owner and Management, whose involvement in every technical milestone ensured compliance with heritage regulations.

The core of the engineering dilemma resided in the stadium’s structural limits. While modern stadium sound often relies on heavy subwoofers, the existing concrete slabs were deemed incapable of supporting the significant static weight and dynamic vibrations generated by traditional sub-bass units. The HK Audio Line Array systems provided the necessary SPL and frequency range to deliver punchy, clear audio across the stands without jeopardizing the building’s structural health.

In total, 14 Line Arrays were strategically suspended from the ceiling slabs, selected specifically for their weight, exceptional acoustic fidelity and full-range frequency response. By leveraging the superior sonic clarity of the HK systems, Each array’s weight and center of gravity had to be meticulously calculated and matched to the available anchor points, ensuring optimal sound dispersion and safety.

Logistical agility was equally vital. Given the “express” timeline, equipment selection was dictated by immediate availability and the readiness of engineering teams for rapid deployment.

Furthermore, The Execution took place during a harsh February, characterized by torrential rains that threatened both safety and sensitive electronics. To meet the deadline, our dedicated teams operated on a grueling 24/7 schedule, demonstrating unwavering commitment under immense pressure.

Ultimately, the synergy between advanced acoustic modeling and sheer human effort allowed the “Stade Mohamed V” to roar with a new, pristine sound, honoring its past while meeting modern international standards.

This project was not merely a technical installation; it was a demonstration of extreme adaptability and resilience, proving that even within the confines of a heritage site and under the shadow of a ticking clock, world-class audio performance can be achieved through sheer collective will.

The main challenges during the installation were the exceptionally demanding acoustic conditions, the tight schedule, and the complexity of delivering a large-scale project within a compressed timeframe.

The stadium’s one-sided roof construction required precise long-throw coverage of up to 150 metres while maintaining clarity, intelligibility, and consistent SPL throughout the 67,000-seat arena. To address this, 166 HK Audio COSMO series loudspeakers were deployed, powered by over 250 kW of Powersoft UNICA amplification. This solution ensured outstanding results under real competition conditions, with the system proving its performance during high-profile events such as the legendary Casablanca derby between Raja Club Athletic and Wydad Athletic Club, as well as the third-place play-off of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025–26.

The tight schedule was another significant challenge, as the entire planning and installation process had to be completed in just six weeks. Advanced digital workflow tools, including EASE 5 for system simulation and Armonia+ for amplifier configuration, enabled rapid yet precise implementation without compromising performance.

Delivering a project of this scale within such a compressed timeframe highlights exceptional coordination, engineering expertise, and logistical capability.

The stadium installation at Stade Mohammed V represents a benchmark achievement in large-scale sports audio and fully merits nomination for the MONDO-Dr Awards 2026 in the Stadium category.

Firstly, the project demonstrates technical excellence under exceptionally demanding acoustic conditions. The stadium’s one-sided roof construction required precise long-throw coverage of up to 150 metres while maintaining clarity, intelligibility and consistent SPL throughout a 67,000-seat arena.

The deployment of 166 HK Audio COSMO series loudspeakers, powered by over 250 kW of Powersoft UNICA amplification, achieved outstanding results under real competition conditions. The system proved its performance during high-profile events, including the legendary Casablanca derby between Raja Club Athletic and Wydad Athletic Club, as well as the third-place play-off of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025–26.

Secondly, the project stands out for its efficiency and execution. From initial enquiry to final commissioning, the entire planning and installation process was completed in just six weeks. Advanced digital workflow tools, including EASE 5 for system simulation and Armonia+ for amplifier configuration, enabled rapid yet precise implementation without compromising performance. Delivering a project of this scale within such a compressed timeframe highlights exceptional coordination, engineering expertise and logistical capability.

Thirdly, the installation enhances a venue of major international significance. Opened in 1955 and repeatedly modernised, Stade Mohammed V is one of Africa’s most iconic football arenas and a central stage for continental competition. Providing a future-proof, tournament-ready audio infrastructure elevates the match-day experience for players, organisers and tens of thousands of spectators.

Finally, Algam Maghreb demonstrates the strength of international partnership in delivering world-class stadium solutions.

In summary, this project combines acoustic innovation, large-scale system design, speed of execution and cultural importance. Qualities that align perfectly with the spirit of the MONDO-Dr Awards Stadium category.
