Located in Downtown Dubai, Woohoo is an immersive restaurant that blurs the line between fantasy and reality. The fine dining restaurant and luxury shisha lounge was conceived through collaboration between human designers and artificial intelligence, creating a dining experience driven by AI-automated environments. System design and integration specialists, Vivid Studio, were tasked with delivering a fully integrated AVLM ecosystem, including LED lighting, video content, spatial audio, and a one-of-a-kind LED sculpture. These elements create the ‘living quantum machine’ that is Woohoo, with SP Grid acting as the central control platform that brings AI and experience technology together.

Vivid Studio collaborated closely with Woohoo’s owner to translate the concept of an AI-driven venue into a fully operational immersive environment. Lighting, large-scale LED visuals, and spatial audio needed to work cohesively as they would be controlled by the restaurant’s AI agent. This agent generates AVLM content while the restaurant is closed overnight for Vivid Studio to review before it is added to a library of approved content. The unique audio, visual, and lighting elements come together to create a series of ‘parallel universes’, chosen by the AI agent each day to ensure a unique and memorable experience for every guest.

Delivering this level of synchronisation and automation presented significant technical challenges, particularly around content management and control reliability. To bring all these immersive elements together, Vivid Studio implemented SP Grid as the ‘brain’ of the system. Already using SP in their own virtual production studio, Vivid Studio’s lead engineer, Yuri Stranyov knew that SP Grid was the best data management solution available.

The system comprises eight media servers that play a series of custom content, large LED screens throughout the restaurant, lighting elements and a network of 46 loudspeakers, which use TiMax spatial audio processing to deliver three-dimensional immersive audio soundscapes. Using SP Grid’s Python-scripting function, Vivid Studio developed a custom plug-in for seamless collaboration between the restaurant’s AI agent and the AVLM workflow, allowing access the content library.

SP Grid’s low-code/no-code environment significantly accelerated system deployment, enabling rapid integration with the ChamSys lighting platform and reducing programming complexity. Grid Studio allowed Vivid Studio to build clear workflow logics, providing a convenient and intuitive platform for connecting, adapting, and programming.

To maintain usability for human staff of Woohoo, Vivid Studio used SP Grid’s custom UI creation tool to deliver user interfaces for simplified control. This enables users to activate and operate the system, adjust modes, or override automated sequences for live DJ nights or special events via a touchscreen control station. This hybrid human-AI control system ensures both creative flexibility and operational resilience, allowing Woohoo to function as a fully adaptive experiential venue.

As well as its advanced feature set, SP Grid’s unique licensing model ensured cost-effective deployment. As credits can be added as the project grows, Vivid Studio only paid for the connections and devices they used. This proved an attractive solution for both client and integrator, allowing the system to scale while maintaining an efficient budget.

Woohoo brings together AVLM innovation, system designer specialists, and a state-of-the-art data management platform to redefine expectations for immersive dining experiences. Since opening, Woohoo has gained significant attention within the global AV and experience community, revolutionising the way immersive environments can be designed and built. The unique concept is unlike anything previously seen in the restaurant industry, showcasing how AI-driven automation can elevate hospitality venues beyond traditional installations.

The project began with Chef Aiman, an AI persona for the restaurant, and now it has transformed into a scalable, AI-powered venue that will only continue to evolve until it is completely autonomous. The entire operation is handled by a single control system thanks to SP Grid’s next-generation technology and flexibility.

Vivid Studio’s work is far from over. They will continue collaboration with Woohoo, evolving the system and exploring the possibilities of AI agent automation. Plans to create new user interfaces for different users, such as DJs, facility staff, and cleaners are already in motion. SP Grid will be central to this continued development, touching every element of the Woohoo project. From experience control to powering Chef Aiman’s AI podcast, SP Grid has become the technical backbone of Woohoo, proving to be a robust platform for managing complex immersive environments.
