MT Helmets MSI

MT Helmets MSI, 2024 Moto2™ team champions, required a flexible, high-performance audio system for their trackside hospitality suite, a dual-truck demountable venue that transformed from a relaxed daytime lounge into a dining space and, ultimately, a high-energy celebration area. The system needed to deliver reliable and consistent, high-quality audio across multiple zones, to meet the changing needs of the busy spaces through each race day, while remaining intuitive for staff to control. For use on smaller race circuits, the venue operates over a single truck with no loss of functionality.

Key challenges included: ensuring rapid and straightforward deployment at each circuit, achieving seamless interconnectivity between the two trucks, and providing simple yet powerful control for staff with no specialist audio training. Audio-Technica, leveraging its extensive experience in race-day audio technology, recommended Optimal Audio’s ecosystem for its flexibility, ease of use, and premium sound quality.

The system featured eight Optimal Audio Cuboid 6 loudspeakers (four per truck) configured in stereo pairs for clear race commentary and background music, while two Cuboid 8s and a Sub 10 provided enhanced low-end energy for the central terrace dancefloor. An Optimal Audio Zone 8P processor, installed in the primary truck, powered three independent zones (internal and external) with precise audio routing.
Control was simplified via a ZonePad 4 in truck one, allowing full multi-zone management, while a ZonePad 1 in truck two provided convenient, local control. The ZonePads were instrumental in managing different audio routines and source selections throughout the day, ensuring seamless transitions from morning lounge ambiance to race commentary, dining settings, and high-energy post-race celebrations.

To implement reliable connectivity across the two trucks, Audio-Technica designed custom weatherproof connection boxes with speakON/XLR/EtherCON multicore cables, allowing fast and secure audio linking in varying weather conditions.
Using Optimal Audio’s WebApp, bespoke pre-programmed system modes (lounge, presentation, party) were accessed via the team owner and hospitality manager’s mobile devices, enabling instant on-the-fly, one-touch control.

This project exemplifies technical excellence, solving complex logistical and audio challenges with an integrated, user-friendly solution. The seamless deployment of a multi-zoned, two-truck system with a pre-configured, weather-resistant connection infrastructure ensured high-performance operation at every race.
The integration of Optimal Audio’s Zone, ZonePad, and WebApp provided a balance of advanced functionality and ease of use, empowering non-technical staff to manage audio effortlessly. The system’s scalability allowed operation in both two-truck and single-truck configurations without requiring complex adjustments.

The simplicity of the custom-designed weatherproof connectivity solution added a crucial level of reliability for the hospitality suite. Travelling between multiple circuits worldwide within tight timeframes, rapid and seamless setup and dismantling at each venue was imperative. This solution adds to the success of the overall project due to its simplicity and effectiveness which ultimately works alongside the optimal Audio ecosystem to eliminates downtime.

Moreover, the installation’s ability to deliver precise zone control, crystal-clear race commentary, and immersive DJ-quality sound elevated the trackside experience. The pre-programmed modes, accessible via WebApp, optimised the suite’s functionality, ensuring perfect audio settings for each event phase. The ZonePads further simplified day-to-night transitions, allowing staff to easily manage and adjust source selections without requiring external support, making the entire process effortless and consistent.

By combining technical ingenuity, reliability, and user-focused design, this project set a new benchmark for race hospitality audio solutions. As a result, MT Helmets MSI’s hospitality suite now delivers a world-class experience, reinforcing its championship-winning status with an audio system as dynamic and versatile as MotoGP™ itself.
