CINE: Overcoming Challenges to Create a Nightlife Masterpiece

Superlative has a deep-rooted connection with Vietnam, and especially Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC)—a city where the clubbing and entertainment scene is evolving at an unprecedented level. So when we were given the opportunity to design what is now the most iconic club in HCMC, we knew this would be a project that would push boundaries and redefine expectations.

From day one, the challenge was immense. For over a year, we worked in close collaboration with a talented local team of architects and interior designers, ensuring that every detail was meticulously planned. But the real game-changer was the venue itself—CINE, a former grand cinema with a 13-meter-high ceiling and an architectural legacy the client wanted to preserve. Our mission? To transform a historic space into a cutting-edge nightlife destination while respecting its original character.

The sheer scale of the project brought a series of technical and logistical hurdles:
– Engineering Precision in an Iconic Structure Integrating a high-tech kinetic lighting system in an old building was no small feat. The pre-rig installation required extreme precision, as we had to carefully reinforce the structure while seamlessly incorporating variable-speed motors to bring our dynamic vision to life.

– Mastering the Challenges of Power & Infrastructure To fuel this electrifying experience, we needed to bring in a 350A power supply – a massive undertaking in a city with strict regulations and challenging access points. Navigating permits and logistical constraints in an urban environment of this scale required relentless coordination and problem-solving.

– Uncompromising Execution on an Unforgiving Timeline Despite the enormous complexity, CINE was fully installed in just one month – a feat that would have been impossible without the tireless dedication of our team and the unbreakable synergy with our local partners.

CINE is not just a club; it’s a monument to innovation, perseverance, and the power of visionary design. It stands as a testament to what happens when technology, creativity& determination collide
The challenges were monumental, but so was the triumph. And today, CINE shines as one of the most breathtaking, immersive nightlife experiences in the world.

A Benchmark in Excellence, Innovation, and Impact

CINE is not just a project—it’s a masterpiece of innovation, precision, and visionary execution. From concept to completion, every aspect of its design and installation embodies the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and ingenuity.
– Uncompromising Quality & Craftsmanship Executed with meticulous attention to detail, CINE stands as a testament to exceptional design and engineering. Every lighting element, kinetic installation, and architectural enhancement was crafted to elevate the user experience to an unparalleled level.

– A Game-Changer in Innovation This project introduces cutting-edge technology and avant-garde methodologies, redefining what’s possible in immersive nightlife experiences. The integration of dynamic kinetic elements, precision-controlled lighting, and synchronized visual effects sets a new benchmark in club design.

– A Powerful & Lasting Impact CINE doesn’t just impress—it transforms. It delivers an exceptional, multi-sensory experience that leaves visitors in awe. Beyond aesthetics, it has significantly boosted the venue’s status, turning it into a must-visit destination and a landmark in the city’s entertainment scene.

– Maximum Value, Unmatched Execution Staying within budget while maintaining world-class quality is an art, and CINE delivers outstanding cost-effectiveness without compromise. This project proves that groundbreaking innovation can be achieved while ensuring financial efficiency and long-term sustainability.

– A Collaboration Like No Other CINE is the result of a seamless partnership between Superlative and a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, and local experts. The result? A cohesive, well-integrated masterpiece that showcases the power of teamwork.

– Solving Complex Challenges with Elegance Bringing this vision to life required navigating intricate technical, logistical, and structural challenges. From integrating state-of-the-art lighting into a historic building to managing large-scale power requirements, CINE was a test of expertise and innovation—one that we conquered with precision and ingenuity.

LED Video Screen
– 180 sqm UVF 3,9/7.8 SMD 1921 transparent Screen from UNILUMIN.

Half of these screens are mounted on a kinetic system with Walhberg’s rocktractor, these screens move along the almost 30 m of beam track and rotate on their axis forming a single monolith piece in the central part of the club. These screens are formed in a “V” position and slide from the side walls of the club to the central position. All screens are transparent with lighting on the inside such as blinders and strobe lights.

Trussing/Kinetics:

We used 4 trusses of 8 m with two cyberhoist motors each and their control, make this club with a height of 13 m an incredible space for all vertical movements.
we included two 15 m beams for the horizontal movement of 2 5 m high screens mounted in a V in a custom bumper designed by the Superlative team. This horizontal movement is carried out through 2 rocktractors from Walhberg Motion. These screens rotate on their axis 270º forming several figures along their 15 m displacement. The 2 motion LEDscreen end in a central position of the club as a closed monolith. Also a T-shaped hydraulic platform (5m x 3m) was also installed as a multipurpose stage. It is widely used for artists in the center of the club
