Opened in Golmés near Lleida in 1976, the Big Ben Discoteca was a magnet for international and Spanish music stars in the 1980s and was one of the largest and best-known nightclubs in Europe. The ‘Generació Big Ben’ turned it into a cultural meeting place that radiated far beyond the city limits. However, with the change in club culture in the early 2000s, the legendary venue lost its appeal and had to close its doors in 2015.
After extensive renovation and modernisation work, during which innovative room concepts, a new event hall, exclusive VIP zones and state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology were implemented, the Big Ben Discoteca celebrated its glamorous reopening at the end of 2024. This relaunch revitalises the traditional heritage of Big Ben Discoteca and provides fresh impetus for regional nightlife.
The reopening of the legendary Big Ben Discoteca in Golmés after nine years of closure was an important turning point for nightlife in the Lleida region. More than 5,000 people celebrated a historic night with a first-class show in which the sound quality of the new sound system played a key role.
Vtècnics en Ruta S.L., a leading company for professional sound reinforcement systems and exclusive distributor of Voice-Acoustic in Spain, was responsible for the installation of the new sound system in the main hall of Big Ben Discoteca. The venue is now equipped with a total of 58 state-of-the-art Pro Audio loudspeakers from the renowned German manufacturer Voice-Acoustic, ensuring an impressive and high-quality sound experience for all visitors.
Francesc Güell and Narcís Solé, professionals with extensive experience in the audiovisual field, were responsible for the sound and acoustic design, ensuring a balanced sound reproduction and an impressive performance during DJ sessions and live concerts.
