Berceni Arena

The Berceni Arena Ice Rink in Bucharest, Romania, required advanced lighting systems to create a functional, aesthetic space suitable for high-level competitions. Dynamic lighting of both the façade and interior was crucial, with customisation and high-definition capabilities key factors of the installation.

This state-of-the-art facility represents the revival of ice sports in the Romanian capital. The expansive façade called for intelligent lighting to cement the arena as a visual landmark, requiring flexibility, precision and control.

As a landmark lighting installation, the façade is illuminated through 70,839 ColorFlex Micro RGB light points which required significant channel counts to provide the flexibility and control needed. Six 100-universe Pharos Designer LPC X controllers provide 51,200 channels of control forpin-point precision and powerful flexibility.

The LPC X gives users control of individual fixtures, multiple overlapping groups and matrices, allowing zones and sections of the façade to act as separate screens, or together as one cohesive canvas. These capabilities allow the lighting to reproduce a wide range of colours and animated sequences.

The newly installed five-inch Pharos Designer TPS wall station delivers sleek touch control with a seamless glass plate and fully customisable interface, giving staff real-time control over scenes, colour, and intensity.

The interior lighting system required flexibility with capability to show high-definition TV broadcasts. Four Pharos Designer RIO D devices were integrated to allow customisation while providing high quality HD broadcasting for enhanced visual experience.

The DALI-based interior game lighting system uses Designer RIO D devices, enabling customised lighting for different event types while ensuring high-quality illumination suitable for HD broadcasting and an enhanced visual experience.

The Color Kinetics and Pharos system represent a cutting-edge implementation of modern lighting technologies in sports infrastructure.
