FutureTech also designed and installed a world-class audio system for Toyroom, utilizing Funktion-One speakers. The main room’s system features a cross-stereo, four-point setup, featuring an Evolution X in each corner, paired with four F124 sub cabinets installed into the front of the stage, which deliver low frequency directly into the heart of the dancefloor. The system also utilizes PSM318 DJ monitors and F101.2 in fills.

One of the biggest and most popular nightclubs in St. Julian’s, the party capital of the Mediterranean island of Malta, ToyRoom features a world-class audio, video and lighting system. Designed to immerse club-goers in a high-energy, visually stunning environment, ToyRoom features a meticulously crafted audio, video and lighting installation. FutureTech Pro, led by Stefan Farrugia, in collaboration with lighting designer Domnic Attard, delivered an electrifying lighting system utilizing ADJ’s state-of-the-art fixtures that delivers true ‘wow factor’.

Featuring iconic branding based around the character of ‘Frank’ the bad teddy bear, ToyRoom is an international franchise with venues in cities across the globe. The goal for ToyRoom Malta was to create a high-impact, immersive lighting experience that complemented the club’s intense energy while ensuring flexibility for a variety of music events and performances. The lighting needed to integrate seamlessly with the venue’s massive LED screen and adapt to different themes throughout the week.

To achieve this, FutureTech Pro and Domnic Attard integrated a comprehensive selection of ADJ fixtures, including:
• 42 x Focus Hybrid moving heads for sharp beam effects, GOBO projections, and vibrant stage washes.
• 36 x Focus Flex LED wash-zoom fixtures for rich color mixing and dynamic zoom effects to fill the club with immersive light.
• 28 x Jolt Bar FX static LED battens for synchronized strobe and pixel-mapped effects that expand visuals beyond the LED screen.
• 16 x Vizi Beam 12RX fixtures for piercing aerial beams that cut through the atmosphere with precision.
• 18 x Allegro Z6 motorized linear LED fixtures to enhance the stage presence and tie into the overall lighting design.
• 16 x Focus Spot 4Z fixtures strategically positioned in the VIP areas to create a more integrated experience for high-end guests.
• 8 x Entour Venue haze machines to amplify the impact of lighting effects by providing consistent atmospheric haze.
This sophisticated system ensures that the lighting can shift seamlessly between different moods and intensities, creating a dynamic environment that evolves throughout the night.

ToyRoom’s cavernous main dance space spans two stories, with a stage at one end and a bar at the other. A large LED screen – supplied via sub-contractor Andrew Zammit and his company InnovaLED Technologies – provides a backdrop to the stage and runs up to the roof, spanning the length of the ceiling above the dancefloor. This makes Toyroom the only club in Malta with an LED screen that runs the entire length of the ceiling above the dance floor, making for a truly immersive experience.

The installation of the AVL system at ToyRoom came with several challenges:
• Integration between the lighting and LED ceiling screen: The venue was the first in Malta to feature an LED screen spanning across the entire ceiling. The lighting design had to work in harmony with this display. By positioning moving lights at varied heights along the sides of the venue, the team complemented the screen rather than overpowering it. The Jolt Bar FX fixtures were pixel-mapped, allowing video content to extend on either side of the screen, while also connected into the lighting control system to allow the lighting operate to trigger strobe flashes in time with the music.
• Structural Limitations and Weight Load Concerns: The team had to carefully distribute the weight of fixtures to avoid exceeding structural limits. This required a precise layout plan to balance performance with safety.
• Tight Turnaround: To hit the launch date, the timeline for installation was tight. The team prioritized efficient fixture placement and pre-programming to ensure a seamless setup before the club’s debut.
• VIP Area Integration: Many clubs neglect VIP areas in their lighting designs, but at ToyRoom, the goal was to create an immersive experience throughout the entire space. By integrating Focus Spot 4Z fixtures in the VIP zone, lighting effects are able to extend beyond the main dance floor, enhancing the exclusivity of these areas.

ToyRoom Malta exemplifies excellence in nightclub technical design, drawing together worldclass audio, video and lighting systems to deliver an immersive experience to guests. This includes:
• Pioneering Visual Integration: As the first club in Malta with an LED screen covering the ceiling, ToyRoom’s lighting design successfully complements this feature with immersive side lighting and pixel mapping.
• Technical Innovation & Versatility: The diverse ADJ fixture selection allows the lighting to transform the club’s atmosphere night after night, catering to different music genres and performance styles with ease.
• Enhanced Guest Experience: Every element of the technical system was designed to create an electrifying yet sophisticated ambiance, keeping guests engaged from the moment they enter until the night’s end.
• Seamless Execution Under Pressure: Despite the challenges of weight restrictions and a tight deadline, the team delivered a cutting-edge AVL installation that continues to impress club-goers and performers alike.
• Global Recognition & Influence: As part of the renowned ToyRoom franchise, the Malta venue has set a new standard for nightclub AVL in the region, serving as a benchmark for future club installations.

By pushing the boundaries of lighting and video integration, ToyRoom stands out as an industry-leading project.
