The audio installation at Tulum Skybar, a rooftop venue in Bangkok, Thailand, was completed on 11 November 2024, by Ten Years After Audio Company Limited, in collaboration with AT prosound-shop. The objective was to deliver high-quality sound coverage suitable for an open-air environment while ensuring long-term reliability.
Given the rooftop setting, we utilised weather-resistant speakers capable of withstanding varying weather conditions while maintaining excellent sound quality. After conducting a detailed site survey, we strategically design using d&b ArrayCalc software to provide balanced coverage throughout the venue, optimising sound clarity and power.

The result was a robust, high-performance audio system delivering pristine sound clarity across the entire venue, enhancing both background music and live performance experiences. The client was highly satisfied with the reliability and quality of the installation.
The primary challenges during the Tulum Skybar installation were related to the open-air environment and weather protection. Ensuring reliable performance despite exposure to rain, heat, and humidity required thoughtful planning and specialised equipment.
We addressed these challenges by selecting high-quality weather-resistant speakers (Xs series with WR version) and sealing all wiring connections to prevent moisture ingress.
Time constraints added pressure to the project, and the work was limited to periods of time, as it was on a residential building. However, effective communication, detailed planning and increased manpower allowed us to complete the installation on time. By overcoming these challenges, we delivered a reliable and powerful audio solution designed for outdoor use.
The Tulum Skybar sound system installation deserves the Mondo-DR award for its innovative and aesthetic design, efficient execution and excellent adaptability to the challenging rooftop environment.
Despite the complexity of the outdoor installation, we were able to achieve superior sound quality through the clever use of weatherproof speakers and advanced d&b software. The system produced a clear, balanced and powerful sound that enhanced the atmosphere and functionality of the venue.
