The Gathering at Hope Center KC

The Gathering at Hope Center KC involved transforming a 13,127 SF, century-old church into a versatile after-hours and event space. The renovation aimed to preserve the building’s rich, historic architecture, aesthetic appeal, and high ceilings. Hope Center leaders entrusted AVDOXA with designing a sound reinforcement system that would seamlessly integrate into the environment.

The Challenge

AVDOXA’s task was to implement a new acoustic solution that blended with the space while delivering consistent coverage and ample headroom.

The Solution

Blaze Audio was chosen as the sole provider of amplification and loudspeakers for the project. This partnership emphasized a minimalist approach to provide a comprehensive audio experience while respecting the building’s architectural heritage.

AVDOXA Systems Engineer Blaise Bollinger faced the challenge of creating a versatile, simple, and powerful system. Versatility was essential due to the multipurpose nature of the venue, which needed to accommodate a wide range of events at the highest quality. The high ceilings and weight restrictions were overcome by using Blaze Audio loudspeakers, which offer greater coverage with fewer units, thus reducing the overall weight per speaker hang.

System Components

The implemented system comprises:

• 3 x CCA10i constant curvature arrays: These arrays provide broad and consistent sound distribution.
• 3 x CBL528 constant beamwidth loudspeakers: These loudspeakers offer focused sound projection with consistent beamwidth.
• 1 x BL218SSi super subwoofer: This subwoofer enhances low-frequency performance, adding depth to the audio experience.
• 4 x PowerZone Connect Dante DSP driver power amplifiers: These amplifiers provide efficient power with Dante-enabled signal processing.

Outcome

The Gathering at Hope Center KC successfully maintained its historical structure while providing guests with an exceptional audio experience for various occasions and events. The new sound system seamlessly blends with the venue’s aesthetics, ensuring high-quality audio without compromising the building’s historic charm.
