The Theater at Timber Creek High School, a prominent academic performance arts venue in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, hosts a diverse range of productions, including musicals, theatrical performances, acoustic events, and rental projects. With a seating capacity of 795, the venue required a comprehensive upgrade of its sound reinforcement system due to declining acoustic performance and obstructed sightlines.

The Challenge

Keller Independent School District partnered with ProFormance Systems (PFS) to address these challenges. The primary objective was to enhance audible performance while maintaining clear sightlines for both guests and performers.

The Solution

Blaze Audio was selected as the exclusive power and loudspeaker manufacturer to create a comprehensive audio experience. PFS President Cameron Hefty emphasized the need for a system that was both simple and powerful, providing a seamless experience for the audience. By leveraging Blaze Audio’s technology, PFS achieved a solution that utilized fewer loudspeakers and amplifiers, eliminated delays, and ensured unobstructed sightlines.

System Components

The upgraded system includes:

  • 6 x CCA10i constant curvature arrays for wide coverage and clarity.
  • 2 x BL218iSS super subwoofers for enhanced bass performance.
  • 4 x CBL523 front fills to ensure consistent sound distribution.
  • 12 x PowerZone Connect Dante DSP driven power amplifiers for efficient operation and headroom.

Outcome

The Theater at Timber Creek High School was delighted with the system’s performance, which provided a full-circle experience enhancement despite its visually compact design. The versatility of the system allows for a wide range of use cases, making it an ideal solution for the venue’s diverse programming needs.
